====== Portage Anchor ======
There is some great scenery and awesome fishing in the Boundary Waters. When you find some fish, you want to anchor over the spot but you don’t want to truck a heavy anchor all the way especially if you are portaging. Like in backpacking, every ounce counts. Here’s a tip to have that heavy anchor when you need but not have to carry it from lake to lake.

Go to the sporting goods store and buy a basketball net. Gary taught us this one when we went up to Quetico.  You carry the light weight basket ball net and anchor rope but when you are ready to go out to fish. You find a big heavy rock and put it into the basketball net then use the anchor rope to lace it all up. Now you have an anchor when you need without having to haul it around when you don’t. How cool is that?
