{"id":2043,"date":"2012-08-30T16:06:11","date_gmt":"2012-08-30T20:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.westwoodvalley.com\/?p=2043"},"modified":"2012-08-30T16:06:11","modified_gmt":"2012-08-30T20:06:11","slug":"my-musical-evolution-part-247-the-metal-years-ride-the-lightning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wrharrison.com\/musicalevolution\/2012\/08\/30\/my-musical-evolution-part-247-the-metal-years-ride-the-lightning\/","title":{"rendered":"My Musical Evolution &#8211; Part 247 The Metal Years Ride The Lightning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.westwoodvalley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Metallica-Ride-The-Lightning.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2044\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" title=\"Metallica Ride The Lightning\" src=\"http:\/\/www.westwoodvalley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Metallica-Ride-The-Lightning-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Metallica Ride The Lightning\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>I had to jump right into <em>Ride The Lightning<\/em> because it came at nearly the same time as <em>Kill &#8216;Em All.<\/em> Chuck had introduced us to <em>Metallica <\/em> and we were into it.\u00a0 Although it wasn&#8217;t quite as good as <em>Kill &#8216;Em All, <\/em> it was still <em>Metallica<\/em> and that was good enough for me.<\/p>\n<p>I remember seeing the scowling band pictures on the back of the albums and in magiznes. They were trying t0o hard to look angry or menacing. I felt that it was a ridiculous thing to do. I was used to <em>Iron Maiden&#8217;s<\/em> backstage demeanor which was more humorous. Just because you play heavy metal doesn&#8217;t mean you have to be pissed off all the time.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ride The Lightning <\/em>opens up in a rather <em>Goodbye To Romance <\/em> way. The Intro to <em>Fight Fire With Fire <\/em>realy does sound like something from Ozzy or Black Sabbath. <em>For Whom The Bell Tolls, <\/em> starts off with that huge gothic church bell sound similar to the the one found on AC\/DC&#8217;s <em>Hells Bells.<\/em> Just so you know, when I hear that bell sound I always think of <em>For Whom The Bell Tolls<\/em> while those around me most often think <em>AC\/DC.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For Whom The Bell Tolls <\/em> was the first <em>Metallica <\/em>song that I played on bass. Being one of their slower songs, it seemed most likely to be acheivable.\u00a0 <em>Fade To Black<\/em> would give <em>Metallica<\/em> a great opportunity to releive their audience of battle fatigue. AC\/DC could learn something here.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Fight Fire With Fire<\/em><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZnCFWlso-UQ?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<em>For Whom The Bell Tolls<\/em><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/17HRV8k1YMw?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<em>Fade To Black<\/em><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/l3EryN4stwQ?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<em>Trapped Under Ice<\/em><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6mLDoLWJKZw?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<em>The Call Of Ktulu<\/em><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/isx2ydNDZBo?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had to jump right into Ride The Lightning because it came at nearly the same time as Kill &#8216;Em All.
