It seemed to swoop in and capture everybody&#8217;s attention.\u00a0 <em>My Sharona<\/em> was a staple on the party mix tapes. The crowd would react as soon as they heard that familiar opening.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know anything about <em>The Knack. <\/em>A couple fo their songs showed up on my <em>Chipmunk Punk<\/em> album back in <em>The Academy Days. <\/em>They always made me think of <em>The Kinks. <\/em>I won&#8217;t say <em>remind me of The Kinks, <\/em>just make me <em>think of<\/em>.\u00a0 I guess musically they have some similar sensibilities. I suppose it isn&#8217;t beyond the realm of possibility that <em>The Knack <\/em> might show up in a <em>If you like The Kinks, you may also like The Knack<\/em> type of context.<\/p>\n<p>Another song by <em>The Knack <\/em>that always made the party rotation was my favorite <em>Good Girls Don&#8217;t. <\/em>Not only is it an excellent song,\u00a0 the subject was perfect for that kind of atmosphere. If I could get a girl to sing that song with me, it was a painless way to say\u00a0 <em>&#8220;we&#8217;re about to do some things that are commonly associated with bad girls\u00a0but don&#8217;t worry, you will always be a good girl to me&#8221;.\u00a0 <\/em>Some times that was all the reassurance that was needed.\u00a0 The mix tapes were a special blend of music and psychology.
