\"The<\/a>It\u00a0was my respect for Led Zeppelin<\/em> that made me buy this album. I had to, it had Jimmy Page <\/em> on it.\u00a0 I didn’t know it at the time but the rest of\u00a0The Firm<\/em> came with prestigious pedigree as well.\u00a0 While it only very distantly reminds me \u00a0of\u00a0Led Zeppelin<\/em>\u00a0in some\u00a0way, it is still a good album.<\/p>\n

Listening to it now, it sounds like a blend of Robert Palmer, Duran\u00a0Duran <\/em>and perhaps Golden Earring <\/em> especially on Make Or Break.<\/em><\/p>\n

I’m not a huge fan of the fretless bass<\/em>. There is something about the tone and note qualitiy that rubs me the wrong way. It almost sounds like\u00a0somebody doing the bilabial fricative, <\/em> essentially making fart noises with their mouth.<\/p>\n

The Firm <\/em>does a cover of You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>on this album. At some point along the way, perhaps even right here,\u00a0I developed a curious attraction to alternate versions\u00a0<\/em>of\u00a0songs. In the later years of my mix tape career,\u00a0alternate version would frequently be included on my tapes.\u00a0 So much in fact that my closest friends and most frequent audience would comment on the appearance of yet another alternate version. <\/em><\/p>\n
